Search Engines Ranking

By Cressida Matthew, February 7, 2010 10:48 am

Every business, small or big, needs to establish its presence online. The best way to gain visibility in the eyes of the user is through search engine rankings. It is vital that your website ranks among the top pages in search engines, for a particular search term. This is where link building comes in.

We incorrectly type the name difference and fully expect the search engine to know that we really meant difference. Basically we are asking the computer to supply the information we want, instead of the information we asked for. In short, users are asking the computer to reason intuitively.

Most people approach SEO with a preconception – or prejudice – about what their best keywords are. They are normally either wholly or partly wrong While 65% of people never click on paid (or sponsored) search results, 35% do. No comprehensive website promotion campaign is therefore complete without a full evaluation of paid search engine marketing.

Courting the crawl explains how to help Google to find your pages and index all of them appropriately, through building the right technical foundations and structure for your new or existing website.

Priming your pages is only a small part of the battle to get top rankings. By landing the links in a well-managed link-building campaign, you can go from also-ran to world champion and establish both the importance and the relevance of your site.

Getting a link from popular blogs is one of the best ways of link building. Whenever you post a comment on a blog, there will be a Name field, and a website field. You can give the link of your website in the website field, and include link building keywords that you are targeting, along with your name. This will ensure a link towards your site from the blog, and the ‘anchor’ text will have your keyword as well.

Search engine optimization is one of the most sought after internet marketing services worldwide. There are several different techniques used by SEO’s around the globe. Some of these techniques have become stale while some of these techniques have expired way back in 2005-2006. A website which is ranking higher in search engine result gets more visitors than those which are not listed on the top pages of search results.

Helpful Guidelines For Creating Quality Web Content

By -, November 5, 2009 8:51 am

Creating strong web content involves special skills and knowledge. This process is much more difficult than it seems. Most people believe that web content is about text. Web content refers to any kind of digital files that can be published on the Internet. It includes text files, video, images, graphics, and sound. It also encompasses using surveys, links, SEO techniques, search boxes, embedded forms, subscription services, etc.

CRP plays an important role in developing web content. CRP represents a project management-style foundational document, which is used to maintain and organize web content development, measurement and design. This document is based on several concepts:

Start by establishing targets. What is the purpose of your website? What are you offering? Is it about selling products or information? Be realistic and set clear objectives, according to your possibilities.

Learn more about the targeted audience, in order to meet the expectations of your clients. What are the needs of your visitors? How do they live? What is their job?

Think about the functionality of your website. Keep in mind that it must be easy to use, organized and informative. If it is not, the visitors will leave, searching for quality information. Provide accurate and accessible information. Update your services regularly. What matters is to gain loyal customers.

Make an assessment of your content. Focus on objectives and specify the type of each objective, characteristics and an accurate description. Think about those who will maintain and organize the website.

Web content control involves technical data analysis, content functionality and web design.  In other words, you must focus on the characteristics of the online environment, taking into account the experience of your visitors.

Most people don’t read web pages entirely; therefore, you must choose relevant keywords for your activity. Web content must be accurate, brief and easy to read. Emphasize the most important ideas by using bold text. The website visitors must be able to understand your point without reading the text word by word.

Increase the credibility of your website by placing links to legitimate sources. Also, make sure that people have the possibility contact you by phone or email. If possible, avoid placing ads on the website. The writing style should be clear, direct and honest. Do you have experts in the organization? Your partners or suppliers are authorities in their field? Mention them and specify their qualifications.

Use quality content and update the website on a regular basis. In fact, the quality of your content is directly related to your success or failure. Add suggestive images and provide unique information.

Keep in mind that making business on the Internet requires unique skills and knowledge. Creating web content must be done from a unique perspective, in a neutral or personal style. Your website success depends only on you.

Once you have mastered producing quality content for your website, more on with promotional efforts.  Apply your skills to developing backlinks by article marketing.

How back links affect your position in search engine results

backlinks

Before creating a web site you should have decided how you intend to get visitors or ‘traffic’ to your web pages. Be it selling a product or service or conveying an opinion or information you want to get attention and this means getting traffic. You need a significant proportion of your traffic to come from the search engines. If you are just starting out there is no better form of traffic than the type that comes from the search engines as it wont cost you a penny and it very targeted.

Search engine incomes are directly related to the number of relevant results they present to their users. The more relevant and precise the search results the better the user experience and therefore the greater the chance the user will user will return. More users returning, means more popularity and more sales. You and your web pages face a similar challenge.Make your users experience your number one priority so they return to your web pages time and time again.

So how do you do this?. There are two methods that you can use. You can work hard to produce very good content and publish it on your web pages or you can advertise using methods such as Pay Per Click or Google Adwords.

From a search engines perspective there are only keywords and key phrases without these content on the Internet simply doesn’t exist. Keywords tell the search engines what the user is looking for. The search engine performs a look up on its enormous indexes to fetch a list of web pages that contain instances of the keyword and returns them in a predefined order of relevance. Search engines use relevance and authority to decide what pages get returned and presented to the searcher.

Authority is a function of the back links to a web page and relevance is largely down to on page factors such as the number of times a keyword appears on the web page. The profile in terms of authority and the volume of back links are used by the search engines in deciding the position or ranking of a web page in the list of search results.

Back links are the sledge hammers of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

Back links have two major functions – routing traffic to your web pages and helping the search engines determine the ranking of your web pages in the results returned by a user search. Users will follow links they find in content if the back link is labelled with relevant text. ‘Anchor text’ is the name given to the text label on a back link and is used by the search engines in assessing the value of a back link. Each back link has a value associated with it which can vary depending upon its origin.

The authority on the page from which a back links originates can influence the potency of the link to your web page.Web pages with more authority pass more authority onto your pages .

Struggling with Back links? – Here is someone who wants to help

how to get more backlinks

You might think I am mad but I am giving free advice and coaching to people who want to get higher volumes of visitors to their internet sites, here is why.

Although inspired at the time I have uncomfortable recollections of building and putting up my first web site back in 2000. Everyone who embarks upon the challenge of designing a web presence should have someone to help. Implementing your first web site can be daunting if you are not sure how to proceed.

Subjects like understanding the significance of back links and keywords, how they influence search engine page rankings and page authority, and the connection between these and visitor volumes are complex and consistently badly taught by significant numbers of self proclaimed guru’s on the web. I have discovered so many individuals on and offline who want to do this and who don’t have the know how that I decided to take some action.

I am lucky enough to have spent a long time searching for, pulling together, trying out, getting to know and mastering the large selection of different techniques and tool kits for establishing a presence on the web, pushing prospects to my web sites and consistently improving my techniques. I felt compelled to educate people.

I have been thinking about this for about a year now and whenever I have had some available time I have been building my training material. Everybody I have met who is just beginning or already developing a web site wants a quick win, I’m no different and therefore whenever I have discovered excellent material and tools that work I am going to point my students at these rather than try and reinvent the wheel.

Everything I have tried and tested that has produced good or excellent results will be included in my training material and where there are gaps I have filled them in. In my work I have developed some techniques, tools and methods of my own that I regularly use which I will be including in the training.

Why back links are essential for good search engine rankings

backlink

Before putting any effort whatsoever into creating any web pages you should have considered how you intend to get people to visit and ‘consume’ your content. It doesn’t matter if you’re in business, indulging in a hobby or trying to inform others with your web pages you are going to want to attract the attention of other people. You should devote your energies to getting the search engines to direct as many visitors as possible to your web pages. The search engines generate targeted traffic and the great news is its costs you nothing.

Search engine incomes are directly related to the number of relevant results they present to their users. Searchers will return over and over again to a search engine that delivers the most relevant results. The more users come back the stronger the search engine brand and the more money they make. The challenges are the exactly the same for you and your website.Persuade users to come back to your web pages over and over again.

So what is it you need to do?. You have two choices but there is nothing to stop you doing both if you have money and time. You can create and publish great content and persuade other web site owners to link to it or you can advertise on the search engines using PPC (Pay Per Click).

Search engines have a simple philosophy that nothing exists on the web without a keyword or a key phrase . Keywords tell the search engines what the user is looking for. The search engine refers to a gigantic index to retrieve a list of the web pages it deems to be the most relevant to the keywords the user entered. All search engines determine what will be returned in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) by using two measures authority and relevance.

Relevance is a function of the keywords in the text of the webpage and authority is determined by the number and type of back links . The profile in terms of authority and the volume of back links are used by the search engines in deciding the position or ranking of a web page in the list of search results.

Back links are the most important factor in optimising your pages for the search engines.

Back links have two important properties their ability to influence your page ranking and their ability to bring traffic to your site from places on the Internet. People searching for and reading relevant content will click on the back links that contain text related to their quest and subsequently be directed to your web pages. This text in the back link is known as ‘anchor text’ and this too is taken into consideration by the search engines. Whilst all back links are of value some are more valuable than others.

Web pages with back links from authoritative pages acquire authority in the eyes of the search engines. The higher the authority of the web page ‘sending’ the back link the more authority is likely to received by your web pages.
