The Ultimate Top 5 Things You Must Include On Your Resume

By Fox M. Ulderson, September 2, 2010 7:16 am

The top 5 things you must include on your resume are all important. Some of these items might be something you think people would never forget to include, however that is not the case. In reviewing resumes, you find that there are actually people who forget to put in certain things.

There is one result you want when you write the resume. That goal is an interview. You are promoting a product, and that is you. In order for the company to hire you, you must market the skills that can benefit their company.

Starting with your covering letter, everything should be perfect. This letter is your introduction and opportunity to give them the reason why you applied for the position. You can also summarize the reasons you are the best candidate. In addition, you show them how they can benefit by hiring you.

The resume should contain information that will make it simple for them to contact you. Your name and address may be helpful. However, your phone number and e-mail address are essential. They must be able to reach you to schedule an interview.

It is extremely important to read the advertisement carefully to fully understand what the employer wants. Then itemize your skills and experience that fit those requirements. The resume is not a history lesson. You want to highlight your past success that will show how well you fit their requirements. If you have acquired a great deal of experience, begin by listing the pertinent experience.

Your responsibilities are important but what you have accomplished in past positions is more interesting. Relate how your achievements benefited that company and what the long term positive results were. This information will allow you to let the future employer know you were a valued member of that organization.

Everything you can do to make this document interesting and attractive to lure the reader is essential. Your goal is for it to stand out, and be noticed. Any spelling error will immediately be the downfall of your resume. Be sure to proofread it many times before submitting it.

Steps To Make A Finding A Unique Yearbook Theme

By Mike Robben, August 31, 2010 7:35 am

Choosing a theme for school yearbook is one of the more importnat tasks on a long list of “To Do’s” for a yearbook staff. Everyone has an idea and everyone wants a different theme. It is essential for the yearbook staff to work as a team and pick the best theme possible for their school. Follow these steps to make the decision process just a little bit easier.

Step 1: Examine previous yearbooks from the school. Make a list of all the things the staff would like to keep and all the things they should delete. This will help you narrow down where you are headed with your theme.

Step 2: Consider your school color and mascot. Ask yourself if you could fit these colors into a particular theme. Decide if you want to stick with the school colors in the yearbook theme or if you want to choose other colors. Likewise, decide if you plan to incorporate the mascot into the theme.

Step 3: Use the current school calendar to remind you what events occured and what is still go come. Has anything special or different taken place? What are important events still to come? Make a list of accomplishments and trying times. Don’t forget to consider world events. For example, 2010 started a new decade. Brainstorm for a list of adjectives that describe the events of the past year. These adjectives may spur you in the direction of the right yearbook theme.

Step 4: The culture of your school is very important. Be sure the theme that you choose fits the overall population of students at your school, not just a chosen few.

Step 5: Collect some of the literature from student writings. Does a common theme arise from their writings? Input from teachers, clubs and students also is very important. Perhaps you can survey of possible theme ideas from the students.

Step 6: Narrow your possible themes down to a list of 6 and then take a vote amongst the staff. (Be sure to get approval from administrators on the final 6.) Next, take the top 4 and run the vote again with the student body. Keep going until you have chosen the number 1 theme for your yearbook.

Tips & Warnings…

Tensions generally run high during this decision making process. Everyone has an own opinion. Remind voters that whatever theme is chosen, an illustration/photo will be required to match the theme. Keep reminding yourselves that you are working for the school and student body, not your individual selves!

Ebook Writing: How To Write Your Ebook In One Day

By Angela Booth, August 28, 2010 9:29 am

Would you believe that you can write your own ebook in just one day? You can, and these tips can show you how. Your first ebook can be a little scary, but imagine the surge of confidence when you’re finished. And in just 24 hours.

I know of many writers who have been chopping away at the same ebook for a year or more. They may never get finished. They’ve lost their focus, and their excitement for their product. When that happens, it’s hard to get that spark back.

One thing to keep in mind is that you are creating an information product. An ebook is not a second-rate book. It’s brief, to the point, and your reader should be able to act on the information immediately. Here are some tips to get you writing ebooks in 24 hours.

Your first step in writing your ebook in 24 hours is to think about what you know, which others would pay to learn. This can be difficult, because what you KNOW is deeply part of you. You don’t think it’s particularly great — it’s just what you know.

So grab a cup of tea and put your feet up. Fire up your computer or take out your pen, and reflect on what you have learned throughout your life. Maybe your dear old granny taught you everything she knows about cooking, and the two of you spent every weekend in the kitchen when you were a kid, baking apple pies. As simple as that, you’ve got your ebook.

Keep thinking, and write out a list of possibilities. Maybe spend thirty or forty minutes on this. In this short amount of time, you may come up with a dozen or more ideas. Then, just pick one and go with it. Don’t over-analyze. It may seem boring to you, but that doesn’t matter. There are plenty of other people who are looking for that information, and are willing to pay for it.

After you’ve chosen your topic, start making an outline. Don’t worry about pleasing your English teacher, keep it simple. Just make a list. Write down everything that needs to be in your ebook. Next, just begin writing, adding to your outline’s skeleton until you’ve completely explained all of your points.

How many pages do you have? If you have more than ten pages and you’ve covered everything you want to cover, call it done.

Now that you’re finished with the body, go ahead and write the introduction. Use some space to get your reader excited and inspired about the topic. Tell a story or two about the great times you had in the kitchen with granny, for example.

Once you’ve finished the introduction, your ebook writing is finished. Spend a few minutes writing titles for it. Shoot for 20 to 30 possibilities and pick one.

You’ve completed your ebook. Proofread it by reading it aloud into a digital recorder. Listen to it. Add information, and delete information: tinker with it until it’s as good as you can make it.

Read the ebook aloud to a couple of friends. Do they understand it? If they do, all that remains is for you to convert your ebook into PDF format, and there you go — you’ve written an ebook in 24 hours.

Writing ebooks and other information products and selling them online is a great home business. It’s fast, and you can build a consistent high income. Angela offers a free writing tips ezine for you to build your business quickly.
